PACIFIC OCEAN (May 29, 2009) The Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE 4) conducts refueling at sea operations with the guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62). Fitzgerald is one of seven Arleigh Burke-class destroyers assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15 and is permanently forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.
