Mini have released a subtle facelift for the Cooper S, featuring new LED lights and several minor tweaks to the engine and gearbox. Mini have revised the twin-scroll turbo, ECU, oil supply, intake ducting, engine cooling and exhaust system to help refine the 2.0L inline 4 turbocharged engine. Overall performance doesn't change much, with the 2018 model sprinting to 100 kph in 6.7 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 235 kph (146 mph). The automatic versions will now ship with a dual-clutch transmission, ditching the old torque-converter automatic, bucking the trend of parent company BMW who is replacing their DCT gearboxes with torque-converters in the M cars. The normal 6-speed manual transmission remains available for buyers to spec.
