I painted this image to tribute the entire generation of Germans whose lives were changed in the Great War. I've found that many people who don't pay attention to history have bunched the Germans from World War 1 with the Germans from World War 2 and consider them evil. They served completely different factions, and these were just people. This war was a massive human tragedy and it's important not to forget the people who lived through it.
