For ten years, Memmie walked thousands of miles through the forests of France. She ate birds, frogs, branches and leaves,
and fought off wild animals with a club. When she was captured, aged 19, she would only eat rabbits she skinned herself.
In 1737 the Queen of Poland took her hunting where she was still able to run fast enough to catch rabbits.
After that a rich patron sponsored her recovery and she learned to read, write and speak French fluently.
She became a nun, and eventually died well-off, aged 63, in France.
